Abstract:
What might be happening within South American countries where most of the digital media nowadays seem to deconstruct and weaken the social democratization which had been achieved before through traditional social movements within the public sphere? How cyberspace and the promise of liberty and free circulation of data and knowledge have become controlled and dominated by a corporatocracy and governmentality which operate almost ignoring social political actors even when some of them learn to use social media and new digital tools? The research project aims at analyzing the news forms of social actions which also operate through digital tools and platforms as well as identify the main political obstacles to democratization and the rescue of collective self-determination in Latin America.
