   To understand the social political role and criticality of fake news within a networked society nowadays concerning its undermining of democratic freedoms.

   Overall Aim: In view of the increase of disinformation as a global menace, reaching alarming proportions in terms of its consequences for the consolidation of democracies and their underlying values, the present study aims at understanding the impact of fake news on the emancipation process in contemporaneity. Therefore, it will be necessary to elaborate a literature review on topics such as Democracy and the Public Sphere in order to obtain a diagnosis of the relevance that the fake news phenomenon plays in the current scenario.

   After the research problem was formulated and an exploratory study of basal authors was conducted to discuss the topic as well as the gathering of journalistic articles for contextualization, the theoretical reference is being developed concomitantly to the improvement and delimitation of the research general and specific objectives. Thereafter, the methodological scope and the timetable will be defined to be included in the elaboration of the research report.

   Após ter formulado o problema de pesquisa e feito um estudo exploratório de autores basais para discutir o tema bem como levantamento de notícias jornalísticas para a contextualização, o presente projeto encontra-se na fase de desenvolvimento do referencial teórico, concomitantemente ao aperfeiçoamento e delimitação dos objetivos geral e específicos da pesquisa. Em seguida, definir-se-á o escopo metodológico e o cronograma para que se adentre na elaboração do relatório da pesquisa.

   Fake news and its impacts

   No contexto em que o fenômeno da desinformação se intensifica mundialmente, alcançando proporções alarmantes quanto a suas consequências para a consolidação das diversas democracias e de seus valores subjacentes, o presente estudo objetiva compreender qual é o impacto causado pelas fake news para a emancipação humana na contemporaneidade. Para tanto, far-se-á necessário elaborar uma revisão de literatura sobre temas como a democracia e a esfera pública no intuito de se obter um diagnóstico da relevância que o fenômeno das fake news desempenha no cenário atual.

   The article is underway. It’s been done studyies around the concepts of transparency, public sphere, truth, fake news and democracy.

   literature about the role of the Fake News in the sociopolitical reality, the power relations in the communication within the Network Society, evaluation criteria of sources, data sheets, reports and news about the theme.

   A pesquisa se encontra na fase de desenvolvimento do texto, após a revisão dos autores mais citados dentro da literatura e considerados mais importantes para o estudo.

   Foi feito:

   Falta terminar a revisão da literatura e o desenvolvimento do texto.
